Project

I'm not a project-type of girl.

I don't like to put things on my plate that take eons to complete or take precious hours from my day. What did I decide to do about a month ago? A project.
I don't know what I was thinking. I was feeling crafty and creative. The downside? I am no longer feeling this way and of course, this project is taking much too much of my time.

This is it so far. It looks simple, but I made it too complicated. We spent forever looking at different furniture stores for the perfect T.V. stand and it couldn't be found. It seems like every piece of wood furniture out there is super-dark for some reason. I needed some color or some brightness.

This started out as simple pine and I thought I wanted to white-wash it, so I did... and it turned out awful. It wasn't as light as I wanted it and it blended in with the wall.  One week of wasted time.

Then we had to figure out what color to go with. I didn't want white, or gray, or black, I wanted some color, so teal it became. This is after one coat of baby blue primer and one coat of paint. I'm currently working on coat number two (which I was disappointed to discover that it needed). This picture makes it look light but it's actually darker than this.

It has been a month since I started this little ditty of a paint job (it was too freaking cold to sit and paint in the garage, no thanks to the weather). But I must confess, I am excited to see the finished project. I love the color, and I found some sweet little knobs for the cabinet doors. I'm hoping to finish it in a week, tops (knock on wood). I will post the finished project, which I'm sure will look marvelous.

Moral of the story:
When you know how you are about projects, stick to it. If you have a momentary lapse in judgment, ignore it, it will soon go away and you will be back to yourself in no time. You will thank yourself for saving yourself from the pain and agony of doing something so out of character. You have now learned an important lesson and you must not forget it... even if you absolutely love the finished project.
