Landslide

I was driving the other day when I heard Landslide by Fleetwood Mac on the radio. I thought the lyrics to be very fitting at this point in time:

Took this love and I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
And can I sail through the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Oh oh I don't know, oh I don't know

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older I'm getting older too
Yes I'm getting older too, so
...

It's kind of funny how life happens. You can tell yourself for years that certain things will never happen, and then they do. Then you have to face that reality and it makes you take a really good look inside yourself. I have a lot of soul searching to do, I need to figure out how to be honest with myself so I can continue to progress. I need to know who I am inside and out, what do I really like and what do I want? I need to do this for the sake of my sanity and my children. I need to figure out how to live a life that is genuine and sincere, one that does not rely on anyone else. I have lived most of my life on someone elses expectations and with a fear of disappointing those around me. In the end, that is what I have ultimately done, disappointed many. My hopes are that I will rise from this with positivity, and that I will not make the same mistakes again. If I can learn to be true to myself everything else will fall into place...

10 Things Right Now

10 thoughts in the November issue of Whole Living:

1. WARM YOUR SOUL: Savor a hot drink.
2. Be aware of the difference between anticipating and living.
JOY IS ROOTED IN THE PRESENT.
3. LET GO OF PERFECTION; the most delicious moments are often the messiest.
4. LIVING BETTER DOESN'T ALWAYS MEAN TRYING HARDER. Ease up.
5. Avoid getting trapped in someone else's story. BE THE AUTHOR OF YOUR OWN LIFE.
6. Forgiveness isn't about them, IT'S ABOUT YOU.
7. MAKE SOMETHING, ANYTHING, FROM SCRATCH.
8. You can remember good times without losing yourself in nostalgia.
9. The best gifts let someone know how much you love, not how much you spent.
10. Rest is not a luxury, IT'S A NECESSITY.

Ever Wondered?

Have you ever wondered if the life you have been living is genuine, is sincere? Have you ever wondered what may have happened to create such an unfortunate series of events to bring you to such a realization? Have you ever wondered if you can even tell the difference between what you really know and what you think you really know? Have you ever wondered about what will happen because of this realization and where this might lead you? Have you ever wondered about how it will affect the people closest to you?
It's scary... I'm scared.

Perfect

These guys are perfect... what you say? You are posting about these guys again?
Well, yes... yes, I am.

They performed at In The Venue last night and it was amazing. There's just something about their songs that get me... they just get me. This album as an entirety is not my favorite that they have done, but there are a few songs on it that will be included on my list of favorite songs. This is one of them...

I really love this version, it's beautiful.

They have to be one of the best bands to play live, ever. The energy is crazy and I love it. Great show guys, come again soon!

Teavana

There's a new store in the University Mall called Teavana. It is full of amazing teas, teapots, and anything else tea you can think of. I tried my first Oolong tea, Monkey Picked Oolong to be exact. It was amazing and I think I'm hooked. They sell everything loose leaf, which I'm learning is actually better and keeps the tea from tasting bitter, and you can re-steep many of them. Check it out if you haven't already, it's a very cool store and they know what they're talking about when it comes to tea.

Drive

We went on a drive up to Sundance on Thursday. I wanted to see if we could get a glimpse of the leaves before they blew away in the storm.

It was beautiful up there with all of the reds and yellows. I couldn't believe how much snow there was. It looked gorgeous on the pine trees.

It's amazing to see how quickly the seasons change here. It goes from 80 degrees one day to 40 degrees the next. I have to admit that I loved waking up Friday morning as I heated up a cup of tea with honey and sipped it down while it warmed my hands. Now if I could figure out how to hold a cup with my feet so it could warm those... that would be awesome.

Grateful

I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am about this September. It has been the most amazing weather and absolutely beautiful. I love walking Adelaide to and from school every day and I don't even have to throw on a jacket. I love hanging outside with the kids while they draw with sidewalk chalk. I love opening the windows in the morning to let the cool, fresh air inside. The red color spotting the mountains is fantastic. I have been reveling in this amazing gift of weather and I'm thinking that it just might help me make it through the winter. It makes me happy.
